The Swag is a great and convenient way of having a complete bed and sleeping shelter in one unit. It consists of a mattress, tough canvas material tent and fly-screened entrances. It zippers and rolls into one convenient package which can be easily stored in the trunk of your car or back of your 4X4. For added convenience, you can roll it up complete with blanket, sheets and a pillow. While it's not well suited to backpacking due to its size and weight, but it is great for backyard or vehicle camping. There are many types of Swags and not all have the features built into the Brook Swag. To build the ultimate swag, the mattress has to be the most comfortable one available. The Brook Swag uses a quality foam mattress from the Roche foam company. Initially, Roche supplied us with different grades of foam in the testing stages, we decided if we can cater for campers from 8 to 18 stone* we would have a winner, they come up with a mattress that fitted our requirements and with a cotton cover fitted with a zipper. The canvas has to have a good wear factor so we chose a 15oz 100% water proof Australian made canvas and stitched with size 12 poly cotton, [water repellant]. PVC was not suitable as it will create mould in the mattress when left rolled up in damp conditions. The zips are the important part of any swag with the living conditions varying in temperature, rain, sand and grass to cope with, the slides have to be precise in their manufacture and after 2-3 years of testing the YKK 10 Chunky come up the best. The fiberglass rods we use are a Nexus Coated vinyl fibre glass made to flex easily and not be affected by high temperatures. We have placed a lot of emphasis on quality, as this is very important to the camper in the bush.
